Joy is a Tree

Joy is at the heart of all awakened souls. This isn’t circumstantial or situational joy. This is a natural effulgence of being completely and undeniably myself.

My joy, I relish in it. I’m containing it, concentrating it. Not out of fear of it being taken away or diminished some how. Rather, I’m feeding my wholeness with it, I’m nurturing it to expand and root into me, to penetrate the deepest layers of my realized self. To stroke the back of my wounded parts and accept the feel good nature of being good, at my core.

I am joy, and from my core I radiate this quality that is soul, that is universal. It’s inherent and it’s potent.

In some it’s a seed, in others a full fledged forest. Joy requires a constant cultivation, a tending to more so in the beginning when the first signs of growth reach blindly through darkness. Not knowing where it’s reaching or why it’s reaching, but it’s reaching towards some unknown known.

When joy breaks the surface and light reveals its warmth, the unknown becomes known to itself. Its reaching is not for not. Its growth through the darkness not done in waste. It senses the warmth like a memory and grows towards the light of day.

Exposed to the light, joy may wither and die, overpowered by the power joy has not quite realized. Like a fresh sapling, joy can’t grow without the night. The contrast, the remembered time it spent in Mother’s earthen womb.

As day takes its leave, we feel our way through. Integrating, processing, releasing the old in favor of the new. Joy cycles like this, as does the sun and the moon, joy is the radiant light understood from the trials and experiences of contrast. Light is only known because of dark, and the reverse is also true. Joy is the process-in-full of a seed to a tree in bloom. Giving back of itself only after the process has seen its way through.

As the fruits bear the trees success, it invites in the birds and the bees. Support and help to carry forth joy in immeasurable ways. The tree doesn’t ponder how and to who to give to. The tree grows as it knows how to. It’s maturity a fragrant magnet to initiate the next generation to come through. But the tree first must age to give of its fruit, to release its wisdom and speckle the earth with thousands of realizations lived in its single journey from seed to seed.

Joy, my friends, is the journey unfolding.
